The Proveditors’ Palace (“Palazzo dei Provveditori”)

Text by Maria Teresa Corso.

This building probably dates back to the 15th century. It had a “provisional room”, i.e. a meeting room, and a private chapel, as shown by a supplication sent to the archbishop of Udine in 1762 when, a few months earlier, lightning had struck the building and destroyed the altar.
In the centre of the façade, you can see the bust of the Proveditor Zaccaria Bernardo (1673), with an illegible inscription.
Recently, the palace was purchased by the local council and its restoration is currently being planned.
