The ancient town of Marano Lagunare is situated in Friuli Venezia–Giulia, in the north east of Italy, in the southern most part of the province of Udine. To the south, this municipality borders the lagoon with which it shares its name, whereas to the north, close to the sea, it is linked to Carlino by provincial road no. 3, the “Maranese”, which can also be reached from Muzzana.

A4 Motorway:

– for those coming from Udine / Trieste, the recommended motorway exit is “San Giorgio di Nogaro”,
continue in the direction of the Ausa-Corno industrial estate, then turn right for Carlino, Marano;
– for those coming from Venice, the recommended motorway exit is “Latisana”
follow main road no. 14 in the direction of Trieste until you get to Muzzana del Turgnano, then turn right for Marano.

By sea:

During the summer, it is possible to reach Lignano Sabbiadoro by sea with a motorboat run by “SAF” (SAF timetable).
